Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine, a singer-composer who is known for his distinctive mix of soul gospel jazz R&B and R&B. Avery Sunshine's performances have been on Broadway and in festivals throughout Europe as well as performing at Democratic National Convention. Sunshine has been born Denise White. Although she lives in Atlanta however, she comes from Chester Pennsylvania where she began music by performing and playing the piano in church. She was a student at Spellman College in Atlanta where she started her journey into music on Atlanta's R&B scene. She became the primary piano player for Tyler Perry's stage production Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday, a Grammy- as well as Tony Award winning vocalist who has worked on stage production Dreamgirls at the National Black Arts Festival of Atlanta in 2007, contacted her to serve as the choral leader for the production. Sunshine became the focus of notice during the four performances during the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was later invited to sing during the Obama's inauguration ceremony in 2009.
